AIX Basics

This course introduces the students to the main concepts of the AIX Operating System. The most commonly used commands and utilities are described in detail as are the command line wildcard and redirection facilities. The mechanisms by which a user acquires a login environment are discussed and the main features of the Korn/Posix/Bash Shells are introduced

After completing this course, students will be able to:
  • Create, copy, rename, move and delete files and directories
  • Use the shell redirection and pipe facilities
  • Edit text files using the vi editor
  • Set and change access permissions on files
  • Monitor and control their own processes
  • Use the basic file and text searching utilities
  • Customize their own login environment
